Erickson awarded Jane Goodall's Roots and Shoots Special Contribution Award

Recognition of Erickson Coaching International's Outstanding Contributions to Youth Empowerment and Environmental Education

PRESS RELEASE: December 2 2024, BEIJING. The Erickson International Coaching Center for China and Asia Pacific was awarded the "Special Contribution Award" at the recent Jane Goodall Hope Journey Charity Gala, held at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, China.

This award is in recognition of Erickson's outstanding contributions to youth empowerment and environmental education. It acknowledges Erickson's deep collaboration with Dr. Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots program, as well as its significant achievements in cultivating a new generation of youth leaders and promoting sustainable development.

Not only does the award celebrate the hard work of the Love in Action public service team, but it also pays tribute to the public service coaches who support the youth leaders behind environmental and social causes.

In her speech, Dr. Jane Goodall, said: "Just remember, you were here with the reason you have a mission. You may not have found it yet. You really are here with a mission. Your life matters. You make an impact on the planet every single day, and you can make a choice as to what sort of impact you make."

This message resonates deeply with the philosophy of Erickson’s founder, Dr. Marilyn Atkinson, who has been dedicated to influencing 3% of the world’s population to raise human consciousness and engage in dialogues to change the world through Erickson's coaching programs and its international annual World Game conferences.

Dr. Goodall and Dr. Atkinson's thoughts intertwine like two powerful forces, inspiring countless people worldwide. Both of them call on us not only to find our mission but also to live that mission through our daily choices and contribute to the planet. As Dr. Goodall said, each of our lives is meaningful, and our actions will eventually merge to create the power to change the world.

A Touching Encounter With Dr. Jane Goodall: The Erickson Coaching International China Team Reminisces About The Award Ceremony

The Erickson Coaching International China team had the honor of listening to Dr. Jane Goodall’s speech at the recent Roots & Shoots Hope Journey Charity Gala:

"At the age of 90, she stood at the podium, calmly and firmly discussing her deep connection to nature. She reminisced about her childhood in England, a world without television or social media, where the only communication she had was with the insects, birds, and plants at home. Supported by her mother, her love for nature quietly took root, eventually leading to her environmental work today."

"Dr. Goodall once said, 'Young people not only have the ability to change the world, they are changing the world.' This simple yet profound statement mirrors the practice of her entire life. Her dreams began as a child, and despite the world being less tolerant of a woman’s dreams, she never gave up. The Long Wind Project was born out of this belief - it not only inspires young people but also encourages them to step out of their comfort zones to explore, learn, and create change."

"At the age of 26, Dr. Goodall courageously entered the remote forests of Africa to begin her mission to protect chimpanzees. Her personal experience in Africa deepened her understanding of nature. 'If we cannot find ways to live without destroying the environment, we cannot save the chimpanzees or even biodiversity as a whole'."

"In this thinking, she realized that the true meaning of environmental protection is not just for a particular species, but for the health of the entire ecosystem and the future of humanity. This vision aligns with the mission of the Long Wind Project - through environmental education, sustainable development projects, and community collaboration, the Project helps more young people realize that protecting the environment is not only an ecological responsibility, but also a social responsibility.

"Dr. Goodall's speech was not filled with grand rhetoric, but it was full of power. She has proven, in her life's work, the message of the Long Wind Project, namely that every person can create a huge social impact through small changes. She reminded us that although each of us may seem small, if we dare to act, we can bring true change to this world."

As Erickson Public Service Coach Representative, Jennifer Jia, said: "Dr. Jane Goodall is not only a great scientist but also an environmental leader guiding us towards a greener future. Her spirit and philosophy will inspire me in my future life!"

"Attendees at the event felt Dr. Goodall’s love and courage firsthand. Her words not only deepened their understanding of environmental protection but also sparked a stronger sense of responsibility. This was especially poignant for the youth leaders and public service coaches in attendance, who will now even more firmly dedicate themselves to environmental causes and contribute to the sustainable development of the planet."
