As a mother-to-be prepares to give birth, the final phase of active labor is referred to as transition. Contractions come closer and closer together. Her cervix is dilating with every contraction, until that final push... Baby is on the way!
And so it is, every new birth is preceded by a transition. Some transitions flow more easily, others require harder work, while others present challenges and unforeseen obstacles. Every transition, no matter how easy or difficult holds the possibility of being a labor of love. What could be more beautiful and meaningful than the birth of new life? A baby to love, nurture, and guide to maturity? Here in lies the promise of the continuum and evolution of humanity.
Even in death transitions can flow easily or be more difficult, as anyone knows who has sat by the bedside of a loved one as they take their final breaths. A labor of love describes what our lives can be from birth to death.
A life well lived!
Collectively, humanity is going through a transition, and the contractions of global change are becoming more intense and frequent. One doesn’t need the James Webb telescope to see how the stars are aligning to understand that big changes are happening everywhere in the world. If they aren’t happening for you at this moment, be assured that transition and change are on the way for each of us. Change is inevitable.
So why not be an agent of change?
As we transition into the awareness of being a creator, we can take realistic and sustainable steps to birth new possibilities for ourselves, which in effect can ripple out to serve our families, friends, colleagues, and more... perhaps even a distant star!
What, might you ask, does coaching have to do with transitions? What might coaching have to do with the cycles of life, birth, death, and change in the grand scheme of things? For you and me?
We talk about being “in flow” in Erickson coaching, being aligned with our core values so in turn, we can hold a nonjudgemental and safe space for another to come into alignment with their cosmology. And what will be born from each one’s unique perspective? The possibilities are as many as the constellations in the heavens.
A skilled coach will not only hold a space for you, but they will also ask you simple well-paced, open-ended questions that will facilitate your growth, step by step, as you transition and evolve.
It is tremendously rewarding to partner with others in a coaching conversation as they reach for the stars and as they labor toward the birth of their unique vision.
In Erickson coaching, we are activating new neural pathways, transitioning from held beliefs to resourceful possibilities, and uncovering the motivating values that propel us to actionable steps towards the birth and life cycle of our unique new creations.
Each coaching session can be a labor of love. Some coaching sessions flow more easily than others, sometimes it takes more deep breathing, and more contractions until the transition is fully upon us, the flow of life takes over and the natural process of birth ensues.
A skilled coach is nothing short of a midwife for your life well lived.
What might a life well lived be for you?
