How Erickson’s coaching inspired Silvia Viola’s 5 Personal Core Principles

The Power of Impact

“There is a George Eliot quote I came across many years ago: ‘It is never too late to be what you might have been.’ I’ve never forgotten this quote because it reminds me of what I do every day, whether I’m coaching, mentoring, facilitating, or speaking to someone who wants to become a coach,” Silvia elaborates. “The power of coaching to transform people and change lives is immense, and it has led to my discovery of a meaningful set of Personal Core Principles (PCPs)."

Silvia’s 5 Personal Core Principles

1. Self-awareness guides the path. There is potential in all of us, but we cannot change what we are not aware of.
2. Design the life you want. Make use of the power of designing your own life. Remember that you run your own life, not the other way around.
3. Help those around you. Listen without judgment and challenge their limiting beliefs.
4. Stay on track. Pay attention to your intention. Always keep one eye on the present and another on the future.
5. Don’t let roadblocks stop you. Be cognizant that roadblocks are nothing more than temporary blocks. Don’t give up trying – there is a solution that is waiting to be presented.

“Thinking of my initial quote, for me these PCPs, together with Erickson's Principles, are powerful guides to ‘who you want and can be’."

Giving back

“Learning coaching through Erickson’s flagship program, The Art & Science of Coaching™, taught me the basics of how to work with a person, no matter in what context, gave me confidence and competence. I’m so grateful for everything that I have learned that I just want to keep giving back."

“Coaching, facilitating and mentoring professionally are some of the ways to do so.”

Everybody deserves a coach

“I truly believe that everybody deserves a coach. I have heard it being said several times that ‘there are too many coaches’. Well, I take on a more systemic angle, we are more than 8 billion people on this planet and counting, so, there are not nearly enough coaches in the world.”
