Erickson Coaching International's Share the Love Day is an annual event where the Erickson team volunteers within our local community to a charity aligned with our values. This year, we chose to partner with Tree Canada, a non-profit charitable organization that promotes the planting and nurturing of trees in Canada's urban and rural areas. They have worked with volunteers to plant over 82 million trees to date!
On October 18, the Erickson head office volunteer team broke ground at the new Alexandra Greenway in Richmond, Canada. Together our team, along with Christian Walli of Tree Canada and staff from the City of Richmond planted 350 indigenous trees, shrubs and plants! This area will be developed into a much-needed urban greenspace and park for the 60,000+ people living within a 20-minute walk or bike ride.
Urban green spaces like these are proven to not only have environmental benefits but also improve the physical and mental health and well-being of the people living near them.
It is great to observe growing global awareness about climate change and its impact on the planet. When people come together for a good cause, things move faster and have a ripple effect. A recent campaign on YouTube is a good example of harnessing social influence for positive change, where "more than 600 YouTubers are rallying their followers to raise $20 million for the Arbor Day Foundation, a US charity that plants trees and teaches conservation."
Erickson's continuing promise is that we will contribute enough money to plant 5 trees for each certificate that is issued for our The Art & Science of Coaching program. Our partner, TreeCanada, works to target areas where there is a need for reforestation or afforestation due to human activity or other causes.
