In the personal development world today, there seems to be two major camps – the goal setting or 'intention' camp, and the presence or 'attention' camp.
Children are amazing with their full-spectrum, emotional circuitry! However, sometimes we parents are baffled by how emotional, angry, sad, depressed, or combative our children can become even in one moment! Do you ever tell yourself, “I have no idea what to do here and now with my child’s emotions?” Do you ever finish your day and start to criticize your ability to be a good parent?
As coaches, we hold a space for our clients to explore their ideas and the vision they ideally desire for themselves. We are curious about what is important to them and how their values can support this vision. We ask them to acknowledge their unique set of skills, and how this might help them give life to a truly gratifying future. This is all the more satisfying when you, the coach, have taken the time for your own self-discovery.
In many companies, innovation is an elusive quality that is either present or not – rather than available as a process that can be trained and managed. Leaders aim for the elusive elixir of ‘team spirit’ when they ask, “How can we manage teams and design an environment that consistently generates innovation?”
