Listening at a Level Two or Level Three is having a Coach Position while listening. It is hearing beyond the words to capture the tone, mood, pace, energy and emotion.
How do you feel when you are asked and not told? The ability to ask open-ended questions (instead of closed) helps to expand the brain to explore possibilities.
Equally important to how leaders communicate with their teams is how leaders provide and receive feedback. Sharing clear, timely and specific feedback supports the individual to develop. The ability to ask questions and pause when giving feedback gives team members/colleagues the ability to think, share and grow.
