The Journey of an Entrepreneur is a Journey of Self Discovery
And it all starts with discovering this: What is YOUR definition of success?
I’ve worked with hundreds, if not thousands of entrepreneurs, and I can assure you that every one of them had a different idea of success. For some it was a six-figure income; for others, it was generating full-time income on part-time hours. Some wanted to inspire people; others wanted to educate. One wanted to coach 40 new parents each month, while another set her sights on intensive retreats for 10 retirees each quarter.
As you dig deeper into your idea of success, you’ll discover that there are layers of insight about what success really is. Underneath the picture of a successful business, there’s the feeling of true success. It might be freedom from overwhelm and struggle, an inspiring level of work-life-family balance, or a pace that keeps you energized. Maybe it’s surrounding yourself with a-mazing people – and nothing but! For many people, it’s the sense that you’re finally doing what you were born to do.
I am not ready…
Have you ever heard yourself say “I am not ready”? I am not ready to integrate my coaching skills into my career, I am not ready to “go public” with being a coach, I am not ready to ask for a raise, I am not ready to charge for my services, I am not ready for a career change etc. I often here this phrase when I am mentoring coaches to take the next step in building their businesses. When we are on the path to realizing a dream, we never fully feel ‘ready’. If you felt ready, then it would be time to do the next thing that would require growth and then you would be back to not feeling ready.
If you are truly playing big, acting on your dreams – give yourself the gift of embracing that not feeling ready is part of the journey and act anyways!
What is your Relationship to your Business – Romance or Business?
True Confessions of a Wannabe Professional Coach
I cannot remember the exact moment or when the concept of my relationship to my coaching business was introduced during the Passion into Profit Program (PIP), but I do recall my brain’s reaction when it successfully snuck through my perceptual filters.
Teresia had thrown the curve ball question –“What is your relationship to your business?” The ‘Big Error’ message came up flashing in neon lights, what is Teresia talking about? My eyebrows went up, and my forehead got all scrunched. I was the traditional batter caught off balance, flat footed, frozen in the batter’s box, watching this so-called “softball” of a pitch flutter by me while taunting me to swing mightily, so I could knock it out of the park. This should have been a warning that when I actually allowed myself to entertain this question, I might not like the answer.
Commitment Transforms a Promise into Reality!
We just launched our Spring Passion Into Profit program and commitment was a big part of our conversation. To grow your coaching business your ability to demonstrate consistent commitment to your goals will determine your level of success.
I often say you can tell your level of commitment by the actions you take. Many of you have the goal, dream, and hope to build a successful coaching business. Commitment proceeds success, and until you’ve made the commitment, goals are irrelevant, dreams are useless, and hopes are no more than a pipe dream.
“Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality. It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions. And the actions which speak louder than the words. It is making the time when there is none. Coming through time after time after time, year after year after year. Commitment is the stuff character is made of; the power to change the face of things. It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism.” ~ Abraham Lincoln
